The Spring 2008 has set in and the latest trends have arrived on the fashion scene with much fanfare. These hot trends and looks are going to flood the stores in no time. You can take a look at these latest styles and fashions and see if any of these are of your liking. The flowery and floral prints have made a comeback with a big bang. The renowned designers like Valentino and Ralph Lauren have literally picked up the entire garden for their collections. If you feel that you can carry off a flouncy dress with over all print and wish to balance its flamboyance, then combine it with a handbag, headband or accent bloom.

The designers seem to be moving away from the image of bad girl as an aftermath of the happenings in the celebrity world like the back lashing acts of Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. The dresses that seem more ladylike and those that flatter the feminine spirits are back in fashion. The old school glamour as seen in Hollywood movies has returned. Designers of the likes of Badgley Mischka and Tracy Reese showcased pulled together and feminine looks in their runway collections. The school girl innocence is back in fashion and the uniform like dress has made a huge comeback. Feminity is celebrated in all its glory and even if you do not wish to remain all covered up in a gown and gloves, you can at least try out a chic and stylish evening gown with cherry colored lip gloss.

This year, the bigwigs of the fashion industry including Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Karl Lagerfeld have taken a cue from the menswear and added feminine touches to it. The ladylike menswear looks extremely smart and you must try out this unique wearable look. Designs based on tribal and ethnic elements have become the hottest trends this season and have been popularized by designers like Diane von Furstenberg. You can think of tribal inspirations and colorful fabrics in ikat that are designed into contemporary feminine dresses. If you wish to include this flavor in your dressing, then combine a tunic with graphic print with your favorite jeans.

Some designers like Marc Jacobs have been daring enough to show sheer fabrics and transparent garment in their collections. It is slightly impractical to wear such clothes in real life; however, you can add fun to your dressing by carrying accessories like a see through handbag. Ivory and ebony combination has come into fashion this spring, and L.A.M.B line from Gwen Stefani has rocked the latest look. You can add on this staple black and white clothing to your wardrobe. Eco-friendly clothes are the in thing as environmental awareness has reached a crescendo of sorts. The modern eco-friendly clothing packs everything from fashion, style, fun and excitement to sustainability and responsibility.

The metallic silver and gold have been in vogue for last two years and this trend is here to stay this season as well. The trend is getting all the more glitzy and glamorous. The dip dye or ombre trend is also a big hit of this season. Prada popularized this trend during the last fall through its shoes and handbags and now, this craze has permeated all over and you can see it all type of dresses, tank tops and socks.

You know what’s becoming a huge trend also is eco-fashion! I would have never thought that people would be eating it up the way they are. Even top designers are putting out eco-friendly clothing lines to be sold at Target and Wal-mart. And guess what? The clothes are actually stylish and cute. No potato sacks or anything like that. That’s what initially caught my attention and encouraged me to go green.

Now I’m not only remodeling my closet, but I’m doing a little work around the house as well. One of the best things that I’ve done so far was switch to bioheat. My clothes aren’t the only thing in my house that will be made of organic materials. Bioheat is also made with heating oils and fun stuff like avocado. It’s non-toxic and biodegradable, which is pretty cool too.

Working for NORA is how I was up-to-date on this whole going green with fashion thing. For more info about helping the environment check out:

I think your observations are very good here, it is good to see designers reverting to more feminine looks this year, I am a little late commenting I know!

The ombre look was always gonna be popular as the next alternative to tie dye and as for the metalics well I personally think they look brilliant when used in nice, stylishly tailored dresses and accessories.

As for branching away from the bad girl images, well, It does seem kinda weird that at a time when Aspiring Young Teen Models are being told they are too young to Model on the catwalk scene, at the very same time we are seeing Hollywood Stars ie: 15yo Miley going out with a 20yo Male Underwear Model and Jamie Lynn Spears getting pregnant at 16.

Shouldn’t it kinda be the other way around? Allow those with Mature Attitude and watchful Parents to Model at Shows and not allow the Established Showbiz Celebs to become too wayward lol!!

I hope Jamie Lynn comes through this ok and the baby grows up healthy and well adjusted.

Keep up the good work here on the Teen Fashion Scene!
