2008 Hair Trends
2007 was one of the biggest trendsetters for hair and 2008 seems to be going the same way. 2007 was the year of the pob. 2008 is the year of the bob. The fringe trend that was started by supermodel Kate Moss is back with a bang. Fringes have been totally revolutionised this year and will continue to rule the rest of the year. Hair trends will vary from boyish really short crops to long and natural. But the in between length of bobs will definitely rule the roost. The shapes are not just feminine and elegant too but it seems that women have gone the masculine way too. The hair has styled itself taking help from the clothing trends.
The Bob
The pob may have been popularised by Victoria Beckham but it is back to the good old bob this year. Hair may have been graduated last year but even the bob can be unique with a little of the appropriate styling. Try reviving the 40s look. Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago looked absolutely stunning in it. If you want something more modern, go for a longer blunt cut. Or go totally rocker with great shaggy layers.
The Fringe
That little hair on the forehead that plays peek-a-boo with the eyes is what everyone is wearing this year. This is one style that can be worn in many different ways.
Blunt- This is the safest and the most popular.
Long- The fringe is layered and long and loves playing with the eyes.
Pixie- This is boyish and short and requires a whole lot of confidence to even think about pulling this off.
The fringe is guaranteed not to die this year especially since Kate Moss refuses to grow her hair out and the next movie with James Bond is guaranteed to have a lot of bangs.
Pixie Cut
This style slowly crept into our lives in 2007 but wasn’t much noticed. Natalie Portman wore it and so did Michelle Williams. Then ramp models started ditching their long locks. It has remained even through the first five months of this year. This look screams boldness and independence. It van even be elegant and sharp or funky and young. It just depends on how this hip style is worn. Go blonde or add plenty of different colours. This boyish look is meant for the wild.
Side Parting
It may have never really have gone out of style but it has been worn on the runways more than ever this year. This is a revival of the 70s long locks with sleek side cuts and parts.
Feminine and Soft
This again has been influenced by hair styles of the 30s and the 40s. The hair is tousled and romantic. Good Bye sheet hair!
Masculine
Along with this feminine look, the masculine version of hair is also very popular. The year started with this on the ramps. It has been fashioned on the rockabilly men’s hair styles of the 1950s. It is still not extremely popular with the masses but if you really want something different, this is for you.
