Practically every school kid dreams of prom night. Women all over the world always remember this night… some fondly, some not. The main thing that all girls worry about (that is after worrying about her date) is that dress she is going to wear. This is ‘the’ night of your high school so it is perfectly fine to fret and fuss and be choosy. It’ll be worth it even if you get on everyone’s nerves in the process. Creating that perfect ensemble can be a major pain though and there are certain things to keep in mind to prevent that dream dress from becoming a disaster.

The first thing on your list is to chalk out the best possible places you could get the style you are looking for. It is said that retro dresses are going to be a major hit this year. Shop at vintage stores or second hand shops. The bonus you get with this is that the dress ends up being affordable too. Why buy an expensive gown at a glitzy store when you can get something cheaper and a lot better at a vintage shop? Just make sure to keep aside a lot of time for this so you can check out as many sores as possible. Don’t buy anything you are uncomfortable in. You will only be miserable on that big night. Keep searching till you find that dress. Don’t give up halfway and settle for anything. Satisfaction is key!

You have to make sure that the dress flatters your figure. It has to hide all the things about your body that you are unhappy bout. Even if it doesn’t enhance anything, it should at least hide imperfections. Though an enhancer and a concealer all rolled into one is the perfect dress. You know you want to look outstanding if you want it to be unforgettable.

The trend since the ages has been wearing ball gowns. It is formal and is the only thing that goes with ‘prom night’. To feel and look like a princess, go with a wide skirted dress which has lots of tulle on top of taffeta.

Another style sure to do the rounds this year is dresses in the halter style. It is one kind of neckline that is sure to flatter practically every figure. It makes a really large bust look smaller as well as lays emphasis on elegant shoulder lines. For a really sleek and sexy look, go with a mermaid or a form fitting gown. These go over just the right curves and you can accessorise the gown with long gloves. Can it ever get more elegant than that? But if you are a tad conservative, go with three quarter or short sleeves. Bell sleeves will create an ethereal aura around you that will make you feel in a class of your own and look like an angel.
