Don’t we all have our favourite makeup? But does it always suit every season? More often than not, it doesn’t. Not every look can be carried off just as well through out the year. Our complexion changes with a change in the climatic conditions. And so should our make up. There are times when we suddenly wonder why we don’t look as great as we did maybe a month ago. The answer to that is that are make up palette needs to be updated.

Our skin tone keeps changing. It doesn’t matter whether we are dark, extremely fair or artificially tanned the skin will change no matter what. The make up used on a day to day basis simply has to be changed once in a while. The tone of our skin changes practically every month and so should the shade of foundation we use. The same shade throughout the year can never do us justice. Using a light foundation on skin that has gotten tanned and darker with time will just create an ashen look while using dark foundation on light skin will just make the face look out of place in comparison with the rest of the body.

To always have the correct make up, you should always have two different shades of foundation spare. You never know when you might have to mix and match to get that correct tone. You’ll need something totally different in the summer than you did in the winter. We get a little paler during the cold months since we don’t get all that much sunlight as we should while during the summer, we naturally get darker since the sun literally beckons us. Even though, many women prefer frosted shades that are really light in the winter, feel free to experiment with nice dark, rich, deep shades. Plum and shades of burgundy look fabulous with lighter winter skin and so do greys and shades of purple. Smokey eyes look stunning too on light skin.

Once you enter spring, don’t start using summer make up. It may be getting warmer, but your skin won’t automatically get darker. It takes at least a couple of months to ease into the tanned summer skin. Mix shades till then. A blush that adds a natural flush is essential during these months. Go pink and glossy with your lips. Use warm shades of eye shadows. They should be fresh and light. To finish off that light springy look, top lashes with brown mascara instead of dark black which can look very harsh at this time of the year.

Now once the summer sets in, get yourself ready with those summer shades. You’ll want a sun kissed look. Use a light water based foundation since skin can tend to be a bit oily. You don’t want to suddenly break out into terrible acne. Use nice pink, peach shades and fun colours for the eyes. Use lip gloss and just some mascara and as little liner as possible.
