The problem with the summer months is that we can’t help but sweat. With the temperatures rising, we need a way to prevent that perfectly applied make up from smudging. At the end of the day, no one ends up looking the way they started out in the morning. Of course this leads us to end up cursing the sun. But the sun doesn’t have to be our enemy. There are ways to stay looking just as perfect (or at least close to it) even after a couple of hours out in the sun.

The first thing to remember during these months is that you simply cannot apply make up the same way as you did in the winter. Not only that, the make up used should be different too. So your make up bag is going to need serious updating. All your tools are going to need changing and so is the make up used. Aren’t we all embarrassed of runny foundation, streaked lines, and, melted shadow in the creases?

When dark shades get smudged, it is more visible. The smudging cannot be stopped but it can be made to be less noticeable. The trick is top use light shades. We all will definitely notice when dark shades get caught up in the creases but if we switch to a light peach or maybe even a grey instead of the burgundies and blacks, no one might even notice the eye shadow running. Of course this does not mean that light shades do not run. They do. But it just won’t be so visible. Try priming eyes wit foundation and a dusting of powder if you can’t get hold of ready-made foundation.

A sure way to make makeup stay at least a little longer is layering on some powder before the foundation and after applying it as well. But the best way to prevent make up from melting is to have as little on as possible. Don’t apply foundation and use only concealer on spots that need it. If you do need foundation, use a tinted moisturizer as well. It hides imperfections just as well. Always carry tissues or blotting paper to dab the extra oil away and to wipe out any smudges.

Try using a self-tanner or a bronzer for that all natural glow instead of sitting out in the sun for too long. The wisest way to not sweat would be to stay away from the heat, right? Try and not use that mascara too generously. Use a waterproof kind and apply at the most just one coat if you simply have to. Apply foundation and powder on lips too before applying lipstick. It will definitely stay longer. Blot your lips after applying a coat and then reapply.

And finally, the key to preventing make up from melting on the face is to prevent it from melting in the tube. Store make up in the icebox. Never apply warm make up. Apply foundation only with a sponge since the fingers warm it. Always apply make up when cold. Run an ice cube on the face immediately applying make up. And last but not the least. Try and avoid getting too tensed. That will prevent you from applying your make up on too well and is bound to look bad.
