The moment you change the colour of your hair, your make up needs to change too. Not every shade of make up goes with every hair colour and if you are a brunette turning into a blond, it is pretty obvious that your make up needs updating. It may be tough to start using new makeup but you will have to take it slow and steady and experiment a little till you get just the right look.
You may not realise it but when you change your hair colour, the appearance of your skin tone changes too. The appearance of your complexion totally changes. So before changing that hair colour, you need to ask yourself whether you could stand using new make up. So if you want to change your hair colour, think about updating it to a shade with which your make up doesn’t need a lot of change. Or better still, use a temporary dye to do your hair till you figure out whether you like it or not before you totally go colour crazy. So start with a wash away colour till you make up your mind.
So here is the list of colour combinations you could go with the make up and hair colour you like.
Dark hair/Brunette
The problem with dark hair is that it does not go with every skin tone. Many complexions can look very pale when seen against black or dark hair. Use a deep shade of blush and lips which will stand out against a pale complexion and sort of blend in with the darkness of the hair. Use a reddish-pinkish brown on your lips and shades and mocha on your eyes for a dramatic yet soft look.
Red Hair
Having red hair gives the appearance of warm skin. Use green, taupe, and dark browns on your eyes. Use a brown shade of blush too. For the lips go wit light shades of pink, red, peach, and brown.
Blonde
It doesn’t matter what shade of blonde but your make up needs to go lighter anyway. Try and use pastel shades of make up as much as possible. Don’t ever use dark blush, lipstick, or eye shadow and try and avoid black eye liner like the plague. It will just be way too harsh. Use ash, pink, or bone shades as eye shadow. And use dark brown mascara and eye liner instead of the traditional black. Pinks, peaches and rose tones are best for the lips. Stick to pink for your cheeks.
Grey
Going grey requires confidence. But if you have the guts to pull it off, it can look very sophisticated and classy. But this colour can also wash out your skin. You need to seriously brighten it up if you are thinking of grey flecks in your hair. Cool colours look best. Use a navy eye liner and grey eye shadow. Go scarlet with your lips if you dare. But the best option would be to stick with corals, apricots and light pinks.
Now that you know what make up to go with your new colour, remember to dye your eyebrows too the exact same shade. Never do a big colour job at home and always consult a professional for both your hair and make up.
