For the lazy gal, a synthetic wig may be the easy way out. It requires fairly no upkeep and is cheap too. It does not need to be managed, dries quicker, and always falls well. The only problem is that heat can not be applied to it or else the hair will melt. Human hair looks much more natural than synthetic hair and can be styled with irons and curlers, and whatever else. But wigs made out of human hair are susceptible to same damage that your normal hair would normally face. They do need to be maintained like normal hair and is pretty expensive.
The Fit
This is the most important factor to be considered while buying a wig. You will have to start by measuring your head. Believe it or not there are different head sizes too. If the circumference of your head is less than 20 inches, you are Ultra Petite or have a child’s head. Less than 21 inches falls under the Petite category. 21½ inches to 22½ inches falls under the Average size and anything bigger than 22½ falls under Large.
The Style
Just like when you get a normal haircut, you need to choose you wig wisely. It needs to flatter your features. You could also get you wig cut just like your hair to flatter your face. If you are small, the wig should be small on the crown but the bottom should be full. If you are tall, your wig length should not be short. Shoulder length to long hair should be the way to go. If your face is round, get a wig wit height at the crown. Te volume will add length to your face. Never make a centre part. Heart shaped faces should go for styles that are fall just below ear level. And oval faces are the luckiest of them all. They can wear absolutely anything.
The Colour
Even though the option of colours in wigs are endless, it is always best to wear one hat goes well with your skin tone. But you could go with a funky colour if you really want to make a fashion statement. If you have gold undertones, your wig should have copper or gold flecks in it too. If you have pink undertones in your skin, go for an auburn shade. Brow hair goes well with pale skin and strawberry shades with peachy skin.
